Specialists at The Foot Institute – Chestermere specialize in the surgical and medical therapy of the foot and ankle. They devote an average of 10 years in education, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to receive a Bachelors Degree, and the next 4 years in Medical School to receive a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to usual medical school and in fact various podiatry programs are contained within these institutions. Upon securing a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute carry out a hospital "internship" or residency for another 1 to 3 years.

Upon the conclusion of the internship or post degree residency, our Podiatric physicians have gained comprehensive health care training with a focus on difficulties pertaining to the ankles and feet. They are qualified to treat conditions extending from commonplace afflictions for example, fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are more challenging for example, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have substantial surgical education which furnish them the practical experience needed to carry out surgery on those complications that are best handled through surgical intervention.

Doctors at the Foot Institute also have an extensive practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs withstand as we walk, run or carry out other tasks. Realizing biomechanics and gait deviations permits a Podiatrist to develop shoes and orthotics which can give pain relief and protect against many issues which the feet frequently experience.
