Calgary North Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Dr.’s at The Foot Institute – Calgary North focus on the medical and surgical therapy of the foot and ankle. Foot Institute Podiatrists invest an average of ten years in higher education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to achieve a Bachelors Degree, and the 2nd 4 years in Medical School to receive a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to regular medical school and several podiatry programmes are located inside these institutions. After receiving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute undertake a hospital "internship" or residency for another 1 to 3 years.

Upon the finalization of the internship or residency, our Podiatrists have received encompassing healthcare training with an importance on problems regarding the feet and ankles. Foot Institute Doctors are trained to deal with problems varying from normal problems for instance ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are even more perplexing including clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at the Foot Institute have substantial surgical instruction which provide them the skill required to perform surgery on those troubles that are ideally handled through surgical intervention.

Doctors at the Foot Institute likewise have a thorough practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet go through as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Recognizing biomechanics and gait irregularities allows a Podiatrist to develop footwear and orthotics which can offer pain relief and minimize the risk of many problems which the feet regularly encounter.
