Drayton Valley Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Medical doctors here at The Foot Institute – Drayton Valley specialize in the medical and surgical treatment of the ankle and foot. Foot Institute Doctors invest about 10 years in education, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the next four years in Medical School to acquire a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School corresponds to usual medical school and in point of fact several podiatry programs are contained within these academic institutions. After attaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or residency for another 1 to 3 years.

Upon the completion of the internship or residency, our Podiatric doctors have received thorough health care instruction with a concentration on concerns pertaining to the ankles and feet. Our Doctors are trained to address complications ranging from common ailments like fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are more challenging such as clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have extensive surgical education which provide them the experience necessary to conduct surgery on those problems that are best handled through surgical intervention.

Doctors at the Foot Institute furthermore have a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs withstand as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Realizing biomechanics and gait peculiarities makes it possible for a Podiatrist to design shoes and orthotics which can provide pain relief and prevent many issues which the feet routinely encounter.
