Red Deer Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Podiatrists at The Foot Institute – Red Deer provide services for the surgical and medical treatment of the ankle and foot. They put in around a decade in learning, the first four years in undergraduate studies to acquire a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles regular medical school and in fact quite a number podiatry programmes are contained within these institutions. After obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute perform a hospital "internship" or residency for another 1 to 3 years.

At the finalization of the internship or residency, our Doctors have received substantial medical training with a main focus on issues pertaining to the feet and ankles. Our Doctors are studied to treat conditions stretching from basic problems for instance fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are much more intricate for instance, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have comprehensive surgical training which give them the practical experience necessary to execute surgical treatment on those problems that are best remedied through surgical intervention.

Our Doctors also have a comprehensive expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet undergo as we walk, run or perform other activities. Realizing biomechanics and gait peculiarities facilitates a Podiatric doctor to create shoes and orthotics which can offer pain relief and reduce the chances of numerous complications which the feet normally encounter.
