Red Deer Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Doctors at The Foot Institute – Red Deer specialize in the medical and surgical treatment of the ankle and foot. They invest approximately 10 years in higher education, the first four years in undergrad studies to attain a Bachelors Degree, and the 2nd four years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles regular medical school and in fact several podiatry programmes are contained inside these institutions. Upon receiving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for another one to three years.

At the fulfillment of the internship or post degree residency, our Podiatric physicians have received extensive medical education with a concentration on difficulties pertaining to the feet and ankles. They are studied to care for conditions extending from common ailments like ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are more obscure like clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have thorough surgical education which give them the experience needed to conduct surgical treatment on those issues that are best remedied through surgical treatment.

Foot Institute Doctors additionally have an extensive expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs receive as we walk, run or perform other tasks. Knowing biomechanics and gait peculiarities makes it easy for a Foot doctor to design footwear and orthotics which can bestow pain relief and avoid many complications which the feet frequently encounter.
