Medical doctors here at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie concentrate on the surgical and medical treatment of the ankle and foot. They invest an average of 10 years in learning, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to achieve a Bachelors Degree, and the following four years in Medical School to secure a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to standard medical school and in fact many podiatry training programs are located within these academic institutions. After obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute undertake a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for an additional one to three years.

Upon the completion of the internship or residency, our Doctors have gained wide-ranging medical education with an importance on conditions regarding the feet and ankles. Foot Institute Doctors are taught to handle problems ranging from standard afflictions for example, ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are much more puzzling for instance, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have substantial surgical training which furnish them the prior experience essential to execute surgical treatment on those troubles that are best remedied through surgical treatment.

Doctors at the Foot Institute furthermore have a thorough expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs undergo as we walk, run or perform other tasks. Having knowledge of biomechanics and gait irregularities allows a Podiatric doctor to create shoes and orthotics which can give pain relief and protect against a large number of complications which the feet generally experience.
