Grande Prairie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Doctors at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie focus on the medical and surgical therapy of the foot and ankle. They devote an average of a decade in higher education, the first four years in undergrad studies to receive a Bachelors Degree, and the next 4 years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to typical medical school and in fact various podiatry programmes lie inside these schools. After getting a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute finish a hospital "internship" or residency for an additional one to three years.

Upon the completion of the internship or post degree residency, our Podiatrists have received wide-ranging medical instruction with a main focus on problems pertaining to the feet and ankles. Foot Institute Doctors are trained to address issues ranging from commonplace conditions for instance, ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are more perplexing for example, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have considerable surgical instruction which furnish them the prior experience required to carry out surgery on those conditions that are ideally remedied through surgical treatment.

Doctors at the Foot Institute furthermore have a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs experience as we walk, run or perform other activities. Comprehending biomechanics and gait peculiarities enables a Podiatrist to design footwear and orthotics that can offer pain relief and help prevent many problems which the feet routinely encounter.
