Foot Institute Podiatrists invest approximately 10 years in higher education, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the 2nd four years in Medical School to secure a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to conventional medical school and in reality quite a number podiatry programmes are located within these academic institutions. After obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for an additional 1 - 3 years.

At the completion of the internship or post degree residency, our Foot doctors have obtained extensive health care instruction with a focus on issues involving the feet and ankles. Our Doctors are qualified to address concerns stretching from basic problems for instance fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are even more complicated such as clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have extensive surgical training which furnish them the prior experience necessary to perform surgical treatment on those conditions that are best treated through surgical intervention.

Our Doctors furthermore have a thorough knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet receive as we walk, run or perform other activities. Learning about biomechanics and gait abnormalities permits a Podiatric doctor to develop footwear and orthotics which can give pain relief and help prevent many problems which the feet commonly encounter.
