Doctors at The Foot Institute – Camrose provide services for the medical and surgical treatment of the foot and ankle. They devote approximately a decade in education, the first four years in undergrad studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the following four years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles traditional medical school and in reality a number of podiatry programmes lie within these schools. After attaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for another one to three years.
At the fulfillment of the internship or post degree residency, our Foot doctors have received comprehensive healthcare training with a focus on issues pertaining to the feet and ankles. Our Doctors are skilled to care for problems ranging from basic problems for instance fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are far more challenging including clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have considerable surgical training which provide them the experience vital to conduct surgery on those complications that are ideally treated through surgical intervention.
Our Doctors furthermore have a thorough expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet withstand as we walk, run or carry out other tasks. Understanding biomechanics and gait abnormalities makes it easy for a Podiatrist to develop shoes and orthotics that can give pain relief and help prevent many issues which the feet normally encounter.
