Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Health professionals at The Foot Institute – Airdrie specialize in the medical and surgical therapy of the ankle and foot. They spend an average of a decade in education, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to get a Bachelors Degree, and the 2nd 4 years in Medical School to have a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to typical medical school and quite a number podiatry training programs are located inside these institutions. After obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute finish a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for an additional 1 to 3 years.

At the completion of the internship or residency, our Podiatric doctors have received encompassing medical instruction with a main focus on conditions regarding the feet and ankles. They are taught to treat issues ranging from commonplace disorders such as ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are much more sophisticated such as clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have significant surgical training which give them the prior experience required to carry out surgery on those problems that are ideally handled through surgical intervention.

Foot Institute Doctors likewise have a thorough knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet endure as we walk, run or perform other activities. Learning about biomechanics and gait irregularities permits a Podiatrist to design footwear and orthotics which can bestow pain relief and help prevent numerous problems which the feet commonly encounter.
