Doctors at The Foot Institute – Camrose provide services for the medical and surgical treatment of the foot and ankle. Our podiatrists devote around 10 years in higher education, the first four years in undergrad studies to attain a Bachelors Degree, and the next 4 years in Medical School to acquire a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles regular medical school and a number of podiatry programmes are located within these academic institutions. After getting a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or residency for another one to three years.
At the conclusion of the internship or residency, our Foot doctors have gained extensive medical training with an emphasis on issues regarding the ankles and feet. Our Doctors are trained to treat difficulties ranging from standard disorders for instance ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are even more complicated like clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at the Foot Institute have considerable surgical training which provide them the experience required to carry out surgical treatment on those problems that are best handled through surgical intervention.
Our Doctors also have a thorough practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs submit to as we walk, run or carry out other tasks. Understanding biomechanics and gait problems makes it easy for a Podiatrist to design footwear and orthotics which can deliver pain relief and help prevent many complications which the feet regularly encounter.
