Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Doctors here at The Foot Institute – Airdrie specialize in the medical and surgical treatment of the foot and ankle. They devote an average of ten years in higher education, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to achieve a Bachelors Degree, and the following four years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School corresponds to typical medical school and actually quite a number podiatry programs lie within these schools. After attaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute carry out a hospital "internship" or residency for an additional one to three years.

At the fulfillment of the internship or residency, our Foot doctors have received substantial healthcare instruction with an emphasis on complications concerning the feet and ankles. They are trained to manage problems stretching from common afflictions such as ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are far more perplexing such as clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have extensive surgical education which furnish them the experience essential to perform surgical treatment on those troubles that are ideally handled through surgical treatment.

Our Doctors also have an extensive expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet undergo as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Learning about biomechanics and gait abnormalities facilitates a Podiatric doctor to design shoes and orthotics which can offer pain relief and minimize the risk of countless problems which the feet commonly encounter.
