Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Doctors at The Foot Institute – Airdrie focus on the medical and surgical treatment of the foot and ankle. Our doctors invest an average of 10 years in learning, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the second 4 years in Medical School to acquire a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to usual medical school and several podiatry programmes are located within these academic institutions. After securing a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute finish a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for yet another one to three years.

At the completion of the internship or residency, our Podiatrists have received extensive healthcare training with an emphasis on problems involving the ankles and feet. Foot Institute Doctors are skilled to care for concerns ranging from conventional ailments for instance ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are a lot more complex including clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have considerable surgical instruction which provide them the experience needed to execute surgical treatment on those issues that are ideally remedied through surgical intervention.

Doctors at the Foot Institute additionally have a thorough knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet undergo as we walk, run or perform other activities. Recognizing biomechanics and gait peculiarities empowers a Podiatrist to create shoes and orthotics which can deliver pain relief and minimize the risk of many conditions which the feet generally encounter.
