Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Specialists here at The Foot Institute – Airdrie focus on the medical and surgical treatment of the foot and ankle. Foot Institute Podiatrists spend an average of 10 years in learning, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to achieve a Bachelors Degree, and the next four years in Medical School to get a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School corresponds to traditional medical school and in reality various podiatry training programs lie within these schools. After procuring a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or residency for another 1 to 3 years.

At the conclusion of the internship or post degree residency, our Doctors have gained substantial medical training with a main focus on problems involving the ankles and feet. They are instructed to address issues extending from conventional disorders for example, fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are far more complex for example clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have substantial surgical instruction which furnish them the prior experience essential to perform surgical treatment on those troubles that are ideally treated through surgical treatment.

Our Doctors furthermore have an extensive knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet undergo as we walk, run or carry out other tasks. Having knowledge of biomechanics and gait problems makes it easy for a Podiatrist to design shoes and orthotics which can give pain relief and minimize the risk of numerous issues which the feet typically encounter.
