Red Deer Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Physicians at The Foot Institute – Red Deer concentrate on the medical and surgical therapy of the foot and ankle. Our doctors invest about 10 years in higher education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to attain a Bachelors Degree, and the second 4 years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles regular medical school and actually various podiatry training programs are located within these schools. After procuring a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute carry out a hospital "internship" or residency for another one to three years.

Upon the completion of the internship or post degree residency, our Podiatrists have received wide-ranging medical training with a main focus on conditions concerning the ankles and feet. They are trained to manage complications stretching from common ailments like fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are even more complex for example, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have extensive surgical education which give them the prior experience crucial to conduct surgical treatment on those concerns that are ideally managed through surgical intervention.

Doctors at the Foot Institute additionally have a comprehensive expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs go through as we walk, run or perform other activities. Having knowledge of biomechanics and gait problems allows a Podiatrist to design shoes and orthotics which can offer pain relief and help prevent numerous problems which the feet regularly encounter.
