Dr.’s here at The Foot Institute – Red Deer focus on the surgical and medical therapy of the ankle and foot. Foot Institute Podiatrists invest approximately 10 years in education, the first four years in undergrad studies to attain a Bachelors Degree, and the 2nd 4 years in Medical School to receive a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to standard medical school and in fact numerous podiatry programs are located inside these academic institutions. Upon securing a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute perform a hospital "internship" or residency for another 1 - 3 years.

At the completion of the internship or residency, our Podiatrists have acquired considerable healthcare training with an importance on concerns involving the ankles and feet. Our Doctors are skilled to treat complications varying from normal problems for instance, ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are much more sophisticated such as clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have substantial surgical training which provide them the skill required to execute surgical treatment on those conditions that are best remedied through surgical intervention.

Our Doctors also have a thorough knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs go through as we walk, run or perform other activities. Having knowledge of biomechanics and gait abnormalities enables a Foot doctor to create shoes and orthotics that can offer pain relief and protect against many problems which the feet frequently encounter.
