Doctors at The Foot Institute – Red Deer concentrate on the medical and surgical therapy of the foot and ankle. They put in approximately 10 years in learning, the first 4 years in undergrad studies to secure a Bachelors Degree, and the 2nd 4 years in Medical School to get a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School corresponds to typical medical school and as a matter of fact many podiatry programs are contained inside these schools. Upon obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or residency for an additional one to three years.

At the completion of the internship or residency, our Doctors have received wide-ranging health care instruction with a stress on problems regarding the feet and ankles. Our Doctors are educated to manage concerns ranging from typical disorders like fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are much more challenging including clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have thorough surgical training which supply them the expertise crucial to perform surgical treatment on those problems that are best remedied through surgical intervention.

Foot Institute Doctors also have a thorough practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet receive as we walk, run or perform other tasks. Comprehending biomechanics and gait problems makes it possible for a Podiatric doctor to create shoes and orthotics that can offer pain relief and defend against many conditions which the feet regularly experience.
