Grande Prairie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Medical professionals here at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie specialise in the medical and surgical treatment of the ankle and foot. Our podiatrists put in an average of 10 years in education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to achieve a Bachelors Degree, and the second 4 years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles usual medical school and in reality a number of podiatry training programs are located inside these schools. After receiving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute undertake a hospital "internship" or residency for another 1 - 3 years.

Upon the conclusion of the internship or residency, our Podiatric doctors have obtained comprehensive medical education with an importance on issues regarding the ankles and feet. Foot Institute Doctors are studied to treat problems ranging from regular ailments for example, ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are even more challenging for example, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have comprehensive surgical training which give them the prior experience vital to conduct surgical treatment on those complications that are best treated through surgical intervention.

Foot Institute Doctors also have a thorough expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet submit to as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Realizing biomechanics and gait peculiarities empowers a Podiatrist to design shoes and orthotics which can deliver pain relief and avoid many troubles which the feet frequently encounter.
