Grande Prairie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Health professionals at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie provide services for the medical and surgical treatment of the ankle and foot. Our podiatrists invest around a decade in education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to secure a Bachelors Degree, and the second 4 years in Medical School to have a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School corresponds to usual medical school and in reality a number of podiatry training programs are contained inside these academic institutions. After acquiring a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute perform a hospital "internship" or residency for another 1 - 3 years.

At the completion of the internship or residency, our Podiatric physicians have acquired thorough medical training with an emphasis on problems regarding the feet and ankles. They are educated to treat concerns stretching from normal ailments like fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are much more challenging for example clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at the Foot Institute have significant surgical education which give them the experience vital to perform surgical treatment on those problems that are ideally handled through surgical intervention.

Our Doctors also have a thorough expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs endure as we walk, run or perform other activities. Knowing biomechanics and gait peculiarities permits a Podiatrist to create shoes and orthotics which can deliver pain relief and protect against a large number of issues which the feet regularly encounter.
