Grande Prairie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Doctors at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie specialise in the surgical and medical treatment of the foot and ankle. They devote about 10 years in learning, the first four years in undergraduate studies to receive a Bachelors Degree, and the 2nd 4 years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School corresponds to conventional medical school and in fact numerous podiatry training programs are contained inside these institutions. After achieving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute perform a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for yet another one to three years.

Upon the conclusion of the internship or residency, our Podiatrists have acquired considerable medical instruction with a concentration on concerns concerning the ankles and feet. Our Doctors are instructed to deal with problems varying from conventional afflictions for example, fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are more complex for example, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have substantial surgical training which provide them the practical experience essential to execute surgical treatment on those troubles that are best treated through surgical intervention.

Foot Institute Doctors also have a comprehensive practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet endure as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Having knowledge of biomechanics and gait deviations makes it easy for a Podiatric physician to create footwear and orthotics which can offer pain relief and reduce the chances of numerous conditions which the feet commonly encounter.
