Grande Prairie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Podiatrists at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie focus on the medical and surgical treatment of the ankle and foot. Foot Institute Podiatrists spend an average of ten years in higher education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to receive a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to receive a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to standard medical school and actually several podiatry programmes are contained inside these schools. After securing a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute undertake a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for another one to three years.

At the completion of the internship or residency, our Podiatric doctors have acquired wide-ranging healthcare education with an emphasis on problems concerning the feet and ankles. Foot Institute Doctors are trained to manage complications ranging from common ailments such as ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are even more challenging including clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have substantial surgical education which provide them the experience necessary to carry out surgical treatment on those conditions that are best treated through surgical treatment.

Doctors at the Foot Institute furthermore have a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet undergo as we walk, run or perform other activities. Comprehending biomechanics and gait irregularities enables a Podiatric doctor to create footwear and orthotics that can bestow pain relief and minimize the risk of numerous troubles which the feet generally experience.
