Grande Prairie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Medical doctors here at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie specialise in the medical and surgical treatment of the ankle and foot. Foot Institute Doctors spend around 10 years in higher education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to secure a Bachelors Degree, and the second 4 years in Medical School to have a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles conventional medical school and in fact quite a number podiatry programmes are contained within these academic institutions. Upon obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute carry out a hospital "internship" or residency for yet another 1 to 3 years.

Upon the fulfillment of the internship or residency, our Foot doctors have obtained wide-ranging medical training with a stress on problems pertaining to the feet and ankles. Foot Institute Doctors are studied to treat problems stretching from conventional ailments for instance, ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are far more puzzling for example, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at the Foot Institute have thorough surgical training which supply them the prior experience necessary to perform surgery on those problems that are best remedied through surgical intervention.

Doctors at the Foot Institute also have a thorough practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet withstand as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Knowing biomechanics and gait irregularities makes it possible for a Podiatrist to create shoes and orthotics which can provide pain relief and help prevent many issues which the feet normally encounter.
