Grande Prairie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Podiatrists at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie specialize in the surgical and medical treatment of the foot and ankle. Foot Institute Podiatrists spend an average of ten years in higher education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the following four years in Medical School to attain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to regular medical school and in fact several podiatry programmes are contained within these schools. After attaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for another 1 - 3 years.

At the completion of the internship or residency, our Doctors have gained thorough medical training with a main focus on problems concerning the ankles and feet. Our Doctors are trained to address complications varying from basic conditions for example, ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are even more sophisticated for example clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have substantial surgical training which furnish them the prior experience necessary to carry out surgical treatment on those concerns that are best handled through surgical intervention.

Doctors at the Foot Institute likewise have a comprehensive expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet receive as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Knowing biomechanics and gait problems facilitates a Podiatrist to develop shoes and orthotics that can give pain relief and reduce the chances of numerous troubles which the feet frequently experience.
