Dr.’s here at The Foot Institute – Camrose specialize in the medical and surgical treatment of the ankle and foot. They invest an average of ten years in higher education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to attain a Bachelors Degree, and the following 4 years in Medical School to receive a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School corresponds to traditional medical school and quite a number podiatry programs are located inside these schools. After attaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or residency for another one to three years.
Upon the fulfillment of the internship or post degree residency, our Podiatric physicians have received comprehensive medical education with a stress on difficulties regarding the ankles and feet. Our Doctors are instructed to address conditions extending from familiar problems for instance, fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are even more perplexing for example, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at the Foot Institute have considerable surgical instruction which furnish them the practical experience essential to conduct surgery on those complications that are best treated through surgical intervention.
Our Doctors also have a thorough knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs go through as we walk, run or perform other activities. Recognizing biomechanics and gait deviations makes it easy for a Podiatrist to design footwear and orthotics which can offer pain relief and protect against many troubles which the feet typically experience.
