Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Medical professionals at The Foot Institute – Airdrie focus on the surgical and medical treatment of the foot and ankle. They spend approximately ten years in learning, the first four years in undergraduate studies to acquire a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to conventional medical school and a number of podiatry programmes are contained within these academic institutions. After securing a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for another 1 to 3 years.

At the completion of the internship or post degree residency, our Podiatrists have obtained substantial medical education with an importance on concerns regarding the ankles and feet. Our Doctors are trained to deal with problems varying from common problems such as ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are more complex for instance, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have comprehensive surgical instruction which furnish them the prior experience required to execute surgical treatment on those issues that are best handled through surgical treatment.

Our Doctors furthermore have a thorough knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet experience as we walk, run or perform other activities. Understanding biomechanics and gait peculiarities makes it possible for a Podiatrist to design shoes and orthotics which can offer pain relief and avoid countless problems which the feet typically encounter.
