Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Medical doctors at The Foot Institute – Airdrie specialize in the medical and surgical therapy of the ankle and foot. Our podiatrists spend around a decade in education, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to get a Bachelors Degree, and the second 4 years in Medical School to secure a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles conventional medical school and in reality several podiatry programmes lie within these schools. Upon receiving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or residency for an additional 1 to 3 years.

Upon the conclusion of the internship or residency, our Podiatrists have obtained considerable healthcare instruction with a concentration on concerns pertaining to the ankles and feet. Foot Institute Doctors are qualified to care for concerns ranging from normal conditions like ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are a lot more challenging for example, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have thorough surgical education which provide them the experience necessary to perform surgery on those problems that are best handled through surgical intervention.

Doctors at the Foot Institute furthermore have a thorough practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs undergo as we walk, run or carry out other tasks. Having knowledge of biomechanics and gait irregularities allows a Foot doctor to design shoes and orthotics which can offer pain relief and minimize the risk of many issues which the feet usually experience.
