Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Medical professionals here at The Foot Institute – Airdrie specialise in the surgical and medical therapy of the foot and ankle. Our doctors invest an average of a decade in higher education, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to receive a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to get a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School corresponds to typical medical school and as a matter of fact several podiatry training programs lie within these institutions. After attaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or residency for yet another 1 to 3 years.

At the fulfillment of the internship or residency, our Doctors have acquired significant medical training with a main focus on problems concerning the feet and ankles. They are studied to handle concerns ranging from familiar disorders for instance fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are even more perplexing like clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at the Foot Institute have substantial surgical education which furnish them the experience crucial to perform surgery on those issues that are best handled through surgical treatment.

Our Doctors furthermore have a thorough practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet go through as we walk, run or perform other activities. Learning about biomechanics and gait abnormalities enables a Podiatrist to design footwear and orthotics that can give pain relief and minimize the risk of many problems which the feet commonly experience.
