Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Podiatrists at The Foot Institute – Airdrie specialise in the medical and surgical treatment of the ankle and foot. They put in an average of ten years in education, the first four years in undergrad studies to achieve a Bachelors Degree, and the following 4 years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to conventional medical school and as a matter of fact many podiatry programmes lie inside these academic institutions. Upon acquiring a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute undertake a hospital "internship" or residency for an additional one to three years.

At the conclusion of the internship or residency, our Podiatrists have received extensive health care training with an attention to on complications regarding the feet and ankles. Our Doctors are qualified to care for problems extending from general afflictions for instance ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are more obscure for example, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have substantial surgical training which furnish them the skill necessary to perform surgical treatment on those problems that are best remedied through surgical intervention.

Doctors at the Foot Institute furthermore have a thorough expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs go through as we walk, run or perform other tasks. Knowing biomechanics and gait abnormalities allows a Foot doctor to develop footwear and orthotics which can offer pain relief and protect against a large number of problems which the feet regularly encounter.
