Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Medical professionals here at The Foot Institute – Airdrie concentrate on the surgical and medical treatment of the ankle and foot. Our doctors devote approximately 10 years in education, the first four years in undergrad studies to achieve a Bachelors Degree, and the second 4 years in Medical School to receive a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School corresponds to general medical school and in reality many podiatry training programs are contained within these schools. After acquiring a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute carry out a hospital "internship" or residency for another 1 - 3 years.

At the completion of the internship or residency, our Podiatric doctors have acquired thorough healthcare training with an attention to on issues pertaining to the ankles and feet. They are qualified to treat conditions ranging from general problems like ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are far more intricate such as clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at the Foot Institute have comprehensive surgical education which provide them the practical experience necessary to execute surgical treatment on those problems that are ideally remedied through surgical intervention.

Doctors at the Foot Institute additionally have a thorough practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs submit to as we walk, run or perform other activities. Realizing biomechanics and gait abnormalities facilitates a Podiatric physician to design shoes and orthotics which can deliver pain relief and help prevent a large number of problems which the feet regularly encounter.
