Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Doctors at The Foot Institute – Airdrie focus on the medical and surgical treatment of the foot and ankle. They spend an average of ten years in education, the first 4 years in undergrad studies to secure a Bachelors Degree, and the 2nd 4 years in Medical School to get a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School corresponds to standard medical school and in fact quite a number podiatry programs are located inside these schools. After acquiring a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute perform a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for an additional 1 to 3 years.

At the fulfillment of the internship or residency, our Doctors have acquired wide-ranging healthcare training with an emphasis on conditions pertaining to the feet and ankles. Our Doctors are trained to manage problems ranging from common ailments like ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are more perplexing for instance, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have considerable surgical training which furnish them the experience needed to perform surgery on those problems that are best treated through surgical intervention.

Our Doctors furthermore have a thorough practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet receive as we walk, run or carry out other tasks. Understanding biomechanics and gait problems enables a Podiatric doctor to develop footwear and orthotics which can provide pain relief and prevent many troubles which the feet regularly encounter.
