Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Specialists here at The Foot Institute – Airdrie specialise in the medical and surgical therapy of the ankle and foot. Our podiatrists put in about 10 years in higher education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to attain a Bachelors Degree, and the following 4 years in Medical School to get a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to usual medical school and in point of fact a number of podiatry programs are contained within these schools. After securing a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute undertake a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for another 1 to 3 years.

Upon the finalization of the internship or post degree residency, our Podiatrists have received encompassing medical training with an attention to on problems involving the feet and ankles. Our Doctors are qualified to manage concerns stretching from typical problems for instance ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are more intricate such as clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at the Foot Institute have significant surgical education which provide them the practical experience crucial to conduct surgical treatment on those problems that are best treated through surgical intervention.

Our Doctors also have a thorough practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs endure as we walk, run or carry out other tasks. Knowing biomechanics and gait abnormalities makes it possible for a Podiatric physician to create shoes and orthotics which can offer pain relief and prevent numerous complications which the feet usually encounter.
