Red Deer Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Doctors at The Foot Institute – Red Deer specialise in the surgical and medical treatment of the foot and ankle. Our podiatrists devote around a decade in education, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles regular medical school and actually quite a number podiatry programs are located within these academic institutions. After achieving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or residency for another 1 - 3 years.

At the completion of the internship or residency, our Doctors have acquired wide-ranging medical education with a concentration on problems pertaining to the ankles and feet. Foot Institute Doctors are instructed to care for concerns extending from commonplace afflictions such as ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are even more challenging like clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at the Foot Institute have thorough surgical training which furnish them the practical experience necessary to carry out surgical treatment on those complications that are ideally treated through surgical intervention.

Doctors at the Foot Institute furthermore have a comprehensive expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet endure as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Having knowledge of biomechanics and gait irregularities allows a Podiatric doctor to create footwear and orthotics that can deliver pain relief and avoid many problems which the feet frequently encounter.
