Red Deer Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Podiatrists at The Foot Institute – Red Deer focus on the medical and surgical treatment of the ankle and foot. Foot Institute Podiatrists spend about 10 years in education, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the following four years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to general medical school and in fact many podiatry training programs are located inside these schools. After obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute undertake a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for another 1 - 3 years.

At the conclusion of the internship or post degree residency, our Podiatrists have received extensive health care training with a focus on complications regarding the ankles and feet. Foot Institute Doctors are trained to treat concerns varying from standard conditions for instance fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are far more complicated like clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at the Foot Institute have significant surgical training which give them the experience required to execute surgical treatment on those problems that are best handled through surgical intervention.

Doctors at the Foot Institute additionally have a thorough expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs experience as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Realizing biomechanics and gait problems facilitates a Podiatric doctor to design shoes and orthotics which can provide pain relief and protect against many problems which the feet regularly encounter.
