Red Deer Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Doctors here at The Foot Institute – Red Deer concentrate on the surgical and medical therapy of the foot and ankle. Foot Institute Podiatrists spend approximately ten years in learning, the first four years in undergraduate studies to secure a Bachelors Degree, and the second 4 years in Medical School to receive a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles typical medical school and many podiatry programs are located inside these academic institutions. After receiving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute finish a hospital "internship" or residency for an additional one to three years.

Upon the completion of the internship or residency, our Doctors have received extensive medical training with a focus on conditions regarding the feet and ankles. Our Doctors are trained to deal with problems extending from basic disorders for instance ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are more perplexing such as clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have extensive surgical education which supply them the skill required to perform surgery on those conditions that are ideally remedied through surgical intervention.

Doctors at the Foot Institute additionally have a thorough knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs go through as we walk, run or perform other tasks. Comprehending biomechanics and gait peculiarities permits a Podiatrist to develop footwear and orthotics which can offer pain relief and help prevent numerous conditions which the feet regularly encounter.
