Red Deer Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Doctors at The Foot Institute – Red Deer specialize in the surgical and medical therapy of the foot and ankle. They invest an average of a decade in higher education, the first four years in undergrad studies to receive a Bachelors Degree, and the second 4 years in Medical School to attain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles conventional medical school and in fact a number of podiatry programs are contained inside these institutions. After obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute undertake a hospital "internship" or residency for yet another one to three years.

At the conclusion of the internship or residency, our Doctors have received substantial health care instruction with a concentration on issues concerning the ankles and feet. Our Doctors are taught to handle problems varying from usual problems for instance, ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are even more challenging for example, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have significant surgical education which supply them the skill essential to perform surgical treatment on those problems that are ideally treated through surgical intervention.

Our Doctors also have a comprehensive expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet withstand as we walk, run or perform other tasks. Knowing biomechanics and gait deviations facilitates a Podiatrist to create footwear and orthotics which can provide pain relief and minimize the risk of many complications which the feet regularly encounter.
