Red Deer Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Doctors here at The Foot Institute – Red Deer specialise in the surgical and medical therapy of the ankle and foot. Our doctors spend about ten years in education, the first four years in undergrad studies to secure a Bachelors Degree, and the next 4 years in Medical School to attain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to general medical school and as a matter of fact several podiatry training programs are located within these schools. After receiving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute finish a hospital "internship" or residency for an additional one to three years.

At the conclusion of the internship or residency, our Podiatric physicians have acquired comprehensive health care training with an attention to on problems pertaining to the feet and ankles. Foot Institute Doctors are trained to deal with complications stretching from basic ailments for instance fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are a lot more intricate including clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have significant surgical training which provide them the experience necessary to perform surgery on those concerns that are best treated through surgical intervention.

Doctors at the Foot Institute also have a thorough knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet undergo as we walk, run or perform other activities. Knowing biomechanics and gait irregularities enables a Podiatric physician to design shoes and orthotics which can bestow pain relief and reduce the chances of numerous issues which the feet regularly experience.
