Doctors at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie provide services for the surgical and medical treatment of the foot and ankle. Our doctors spend about 10 years in higher education, the first 4 years in undergrad studies to receive a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to receive a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School corresponds to usual medical school and several podiatry programs are located within these academic institutions. After procuring a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for another one to three years.
At the fulfillment of the internship or residency, our Podiatric doctors have acquired encompassing healthcare training with an importance on problems concerning the feet and ankles. Our Doctors are trained to treat issues ranging from commonplace afflictions for instance ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are a lot more obscure for instance, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have considerable surgical education which supply them the prior experience necessary to conduct surgery on those issues that are best remedied through surgical treatment.
Doctors at the Foot Institute furthermore have an extensive practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet endure as we walk, run or perform other activities. Realizing biomechanics and gait deviations empowers a Podiatrist to create footwear and orthotics which can offer pain relief and reduce the chances of many troubles which the feet typically encounter.
