Grande Prairie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Doctors here at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie specialize in the medical and surgical treatment of the foot and ankle. They devote about 10 years in higher education, the first 4 years in undergrad studies to attain a Bachelors Degree, and the second 4 years in Medical School to get a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to regular medical school and in reality numerous podiatry programmes are located within these institutions. After attaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute carry out a hospital "internship" or residency for an additional 1 - 3 years.

At the completion of the internship or residency, our Podiatric doctors have obtained encompassing medical training with a focus on concerns regarding the ankles and feet. Our Doctors are taught to treat complications extending from familiar problems for instance, fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are even more challenging like clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have considerable surgical instruction which give them the prior experience necessary to carry out surgical treatment on those concerns that are ideally handled through surgical intervention.

Doctors at the Foot Institute also have a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet endure as we walk, run or perform other activities. Knowing biomechanics and gait problems makes it easy for a Podiatrist to design shoes and orthotics which can deliver pain relief and reduce the chances of many conditions which the feet normally experience.
