Grande Prairie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Medical doctors here at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie specialise in the surgical and medical treatment of the foot and ankle. They put in about 10 years in learning, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to get a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles usual medical school and several podiatry training programs are located within these schools. Upon achieving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute perform a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for yet another 1 - 3 years.

At the completion of the internship or residency, our Podiatrists have received substantial healthcare training with an importance on issues regarding the feet and ankles. Our Doctors are trained to handle issues ranging from regular conditions for instance ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are much more sophisticated like clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have thorough surgical instruction which provide them the practical experience required to conduct surgery on those conditions that are ideally handled through surgical intervention.

Our Doctors additionally have an extensive practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet withstand as we walk, run or carry out other tasks. Learning about biomechanics and gait problems permits a Foot doctor to design footwear and orthotics that can give pain relief and defend against many troubles which the feet generally encounter.
