Grande Prairie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Doctors here at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie focus on the surgical and medical treatment of the foot and ankle. Foot Institute Podiatrists spend about ten years in higher education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to get a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to receive a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School corresponds to standard medical school and in fact several podiatry programs are located inside these institutions. After obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute undertake a hospital "internship" or residency for yet another 1 to 3 years.

At the fulfillment of the internship or post degree residency, our Foot doctors have received comprehensive healthcare training with a focus on problems regarding the feet and ankles. Our Doctors are qualified to deal with concerns stretching from commonplace conditions for example, ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are a lot more complex such as clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at the Foot Institute have significant surgical training which supply them the practical experience required to perform surgery on those conditions that are best treated through surgical treatment.

Doctors at the Foot Institute also have a thorough expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs experience as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Recognizing biomechanics and gait deviations allows a Podiatrist to design shoes and orthotics which can give pain relief and defend against countless issues which the feet usually encounter.
