Grande Prairie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Health professionals at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie specialise in the medical and surgical treatment of the foot and ankle. They put in around 10 years in higher education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to secure a Bachelors Degree, and the following 4 years in Medical School to have a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to standard medical school and in point of fact various podiatry programmes are located within these academic institutions. Upon getting a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or residency for another 1 to 3 years.

At the finalization of the internship or residency, our Podiatrists have obtained extensive health care instruction with a main focus on difficulties concerning the feet and ankles. Our Doctors are qualified to manage issues ranging from normal ailments such as ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are much more perplexing such as clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have extensive surgical instruction which provide them the experience necessary to perform surgery on those issues that are ideally managed through surgical intervention.

Foot Institute Doctors also have an extensive knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs submit to as we walk, run or perform other activities. Knowing biomechanics and gait abnormalities makes it easy for a Foot doctor to develop footwear and orthotics that can offer pain relief and minimize the risk of a large number of conditions which the feet normally experience.
