Grande Prairie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Doctors here at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie specialise in the surgical and medical therapy of the foot and ankle. They invest an average of a decade in higher education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to achieve a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to traditional medical school and many podiatry programs are located inside these schools. Upon securing a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute finish a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for another one to three years.

Upon the completion of the internship or residency, our Podiatric doctors have obtained significant health care education with an emphasis on concerns regarding the feet and ankles. They are studied to handle concerns varying from usual conditions such as fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are far more intricate for example, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have thorough surgical training which provide them the experience essential to execute surgical treatment on those conditions that are best remedied through surgical treatment.

Doctors at the Foot Institute additionally have a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs experience as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Knowing biomechanics and gait deviations empowers a Podiatric physician to design shoes and orthotics which can offer pain relief and minimize the risk of numerous troubles which the feet normally encounter.
