Grande Prairie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Physicians here at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie focus on the surgical and medical treatment of the foot and ankle. They invest an average of 10 years in education, the first 4 years in undergrad studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the 2nd four years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School corresponds to typical medical school and as a matter of fact many podiatry programmes are located inside these institutions. Upon obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or residency for another one to three years.

Upon the completion of the internship or residency, our Podiatric doctors have acquired wide-ranging healthcare education with an emphasis on difficulties involving the ankles and feet. They are instructed to treat issues ranging from general conditions like fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are much more obscure for example clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have comprehensive surgical instruction which give them the expertise necessary to perform surgery on those problems that are best handled through surgical intervention.

Foot Institute Doctors also have a comprehensive expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet undergo as we walk, run or perform other tasks. Knowing biomechanics and gait deviations makes it easy for a Foot doctor to create shoes and orthotics which can provide pain relief and protect against numerous troubles which the feet usually experience.
