Grande Prairie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Physicians at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie focus on the medical and surgical treatment of the foot and ankle. Foot Institute Doctors spend approximately a decade in learning, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the 2nd 4 years in Medical School to acquire a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to traditional medical school and as a matter of fact several podiatry programmes are contained within these academic institutions. After securing a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute undertake a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for an additional 1 - 3 years.

Upon the completion of the internship or residency, our Podiatrists have received significant medical training with a focus on conditions pertaining to the ankles and feet. They are trained to deal with conditions extending from commonplace disorders such as fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are far more intricate for example clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have thorough surgical education which provide them the experience needed to conduct surgery on those conditions that are best handled through surgical treatment.

Our Doctors likewise have an extensive knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs undergo as we walk, run or perform other tasks. Realizing biomechanics and gait deviations makes it possible for a Podiatrist to create shoes and orthotics which can offer pain relief and defend against many conditions which the feet frequently encounter.
