Medical professionals here at The Foot Institute – Camrose provide services for the surgical and medical treatment of the ankle and foot. Our podiatrists invest an average of 10 years in higher education, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to get a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to acquire a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to traditional medical school and various podiatry training programs are contained inside these institutions. Upon obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute finish a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for another 1 to 3 years.
At the finalization of the internship or residency, our Podiatrists have obtained substantial health care training with a concentration on conditions concerning the ankles and feet. Our Doctors are educated to treat complications extending from typical conditions for instance, ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are more challenging for instance, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have extensive surgical instruction which supply them the prior experience required to carry out surgical treatment on those concerns that are best managed through surgical intervention.
Our Doctors furthermore have an extensive knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet receive as we walk, run or perform other activities. Understanding biomechanics and gait peculiarities makes it easy for a Foot doctor to design shoes and orthotics which can bestow pain relief and help prevent a large number of troubles which the feet usually encounter.
