Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Medical professionals at The Foot Institute – Airdrie provide services for the surgical and medical therapy of the ankle and foot. Our doctors spend about ten years in education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to get a Bachelors Degree, and the 2nd 4 years in Medical School to get a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School corresponds to typical medical school and in point of fact several podiatry training programs are located inside these institutions. Upon obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute finish a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for an additional 1 - 3 years.

At the completion of the internship or residency, our Doctors have received thorough health care education with an emphasis on concerns pertaining to the ankles and feet. Our Doctors are studied to treat conditions varying from typical afflictions for instance ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are a lot more puzzling for example clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have significant surgical training which provide them the skill essential to perform surgical treatment on those problems that are ideally treated through surgical intervention.

Doctors at the Foot Institute also have a comprehensive practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet undergo as we walk, run or perform other activities. Understanding biomechanics and gait deviations permits a Podiatrist to develop shoes and orthotics that can give pain relief and prevent numerous troubles which the feet normally encounter.
