Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Podiatrists at The Foot Institute – Airdrie focus on the medical and surgical therapy of the foot and ankle. Our podiatrists spend approximately a decade in education, the first 4 years in undergrad studies to acquire a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to attain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to usual medical school and in fact several podiatry training programs are located within these schools. After obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or residency for another 1 - 3 years.

At the fulfillment of the internship or residency, our Podiatric doctors have gained extensive medical instruction with a main focus on issues regarding the feet and ankles. They are trained to care for issues stretching from basic disorders for example, fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are a lot more intricate such as clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have substantial surgical education which supply them the skill essential to execute surgery on those issues that are best treated through surgical treatment.

Our Doctors likewise have an extensive knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs receive as we walk, run or perform other activities. Learning about biomechanics and gait problems makes it easy for a Podiatric physician to design shoes and orthotics which can provide pain relief and defend against numerous issues which the feet routinely experience.
