Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Dr.’s here at The Foot Institute – Airdrie specialize in the medical and surgical treatment of the ankle and foot. Foot Institute Podiatrists put in approximately 10 years in higher education, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to acquire a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to have a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles regular medical school and as a matter of fact quite a number podiatry programmes lie inside these schools. After acquiring a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute perform a hospital "internship" or residency for an additional one to three years.

At the completion of the internship or residency, our Podiatric physicians have received thorough medical instruction with a main focus on complications pertaining to the feet and ankles. Foot Institute Doctors are instructed to treat concerns ranging from standard afflictions such as fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are far more puzzling for example, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at the Foot Institute have significant surgical training which supply them the practical experience crucial to perform surgery on those issues that are best treated through surgical treatment.

Our Doctors furthermore have a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet experience as we walk, run or perform other tasks. Recognizing biomechanics and gait problems enables a Podiatrist to design footwear and orthotics which can provide pain relief and help prevent countless complications which the feet frequently encounter.
