Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Doctors at The Foot Institute – Airdrie specialize in the surgical and medical therapy of the ankle and foot. Our podiatrists put in around 10 years in learning, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to receive a Bachelors Degree, and the following four years in Medical School to attain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School corresponds to conventional medical school and actually several podiatry training programs are located inside these schools. Upon attaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for another one to three years.

Upon the completion of the internship or residency, our Podiatrists have acquired substantial healthcare training with an emphasis on issues concerning the feet and ankles. They are taught to handle complications extending from standard problems such as ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are more complex including clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have considerable surgical education which supply them the expertise necessary to conduct surgery on those problems that are ideally treated through surgical intervention.

Our Doctors likewise have a thorough knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs undergo as we walk, run or perform other activities. Knowing biomechanics and gait problems allows a Podiatrist to design footwear and orthotics that can provide pain relief and help prevent many complications which the feet normally encounter.
