Red Deer Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Physicians here at The Foot Institute – Red Deer concentrate on the surgical and medical therapy of the foot and ankle. Foot Institute Doctors invest around 10 years in higher education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to attain a Bachelors Degree, and the 2nd four years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School corresponds to conventional medical school and in reality quite a number podiatry programs are contained within these academic institutions. After obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or residency for yet another 1 to 3 years.

Upon the completion of the internship or residency, our Podiatric doctors have received comprehensive medical training with a main focus on problems concerning the feet and ankles. Foot Institute Doctors are educated to manage problems ranging from general afflictions like fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are far more complicated for example, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have substantial surgical training which supply them the expertise necessary to perform surgery on those troubles that are ideally managed through surgical intervention.

Doctors at the Foot Institute also have a comprehensive expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet undergo as we walk, run or perform other activities. Knowing biomechanics and gait peculiarities facilitates a Podiatrist to design footwear and orthotics which can deliver pain relief and reduce the chances of many troubles which the feet usually encounter.
